Minutes from August 12, 2008
Attendance: Bill Stoermer, Linda Hollis, Lynne Loerop, Patti Housenga, Bill Wilkin, Paula Rogis, Heather Bennett, Greg Naftzger, Chuck Dykstra, and Shirl Wierenga-Huber.
Minutes: A motion was made by Housenga and seconded by Stoermer to approve the minutes from July 8, 2008. Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report: Hollis reviewed report noting expenses and income for the month of July: $3,255.75 revenue and $2,463.22 expenses, leaving a balance of $8,696.53. A motion was made by Wilkin and seconded by Stoermer to accept the July Treasurer's Report. Motion carried. Bennett provided a year to date budget update and the proposed 2009 Budget. The 2009 Proposed Budget includes revenues of $33,150.35 and expenses of $33,150.35, leaving a zero balanced budget. A motion was made Dykstra and seconded by Stoermer to approve the proposed budget. Motion carried.
Executive: Bennett provided the July/August Executive Director meeting report. Elections of officers were held with the following nominations: President - William Stoermer, Vice President - Paula Rogis, and Treasurer - Linda Hollis. A motion was made by Dykstra and seconded by Wilkin to approve the nominations. Motion carried. Bennett informed board membership dues would be mailed the first part of September.
Tourism & Promotions: Copies of the June/July advertising were provided. The Cubs vs. Cardinals baseball game went well and attendees had a great time. Minutes from the Fall Festival Committee were provided for review. Plans for the event are coming together with new activities including an extra bounce house, band, square dancers, run/walk, and an arts/crafts show. Minutes from the City Tourism Committee were provided for review. The Tourism Committee will be setting their 2009 goals in August. The Lincoln Highway Yard Sales were successful with over 60 registered yard sales and a lot of traffic in town on both Friday and Saturday.
Government Affairs: The Legislative Luncheon with Congressman Manzullo went well with 31 people in attendance. Bill Stoermer is working to coordinate a date and time for the next Legislative Luncheon with Representative Mike Boland.
Member Relations: Minutes from the Member Ed Committee were provided for review. The committee will be promoting voter registration with the local newspapers and is finalizing details for a workshop to be held the later part of September or first part of October. Minutes from the wrap-up meeting for the Bridal Walk were provided for review. To encourage more brides to walk downtown, registration will be held at the Chamber office next year and vendors will be split between the Masonic Lodge and Manny's Too.
Downtown: Chuck Dykstra briefly updated the board on the progress being made to the former Vander Vinne building located in downtown Fulton. The group anticipates outside façade work to begin the later part of August. Due to costs and possible infrastructure issues, the marquee will no longer be apart of the development.
Old/New Business: Bill Stoermer reported that the CCI Committee is finalizing a survey to be mailed to all Fulton households. The survey will also be included in the Fulton Journal. Once the surveys are tallied a public meeting will be held to review the results. Bennett provided details on her maternity leave for the board. Stoermer suggested Bennett put together a "to-do" list for both the Fall Festival and Christmas Walk. Bennett indicated everything was in a binder but that she would have one or two sheets explaining all the details for each event.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Dykstra and seconded by Loerop to adjourn the meeting at 1:15pm. Motion carried.
Next board meeting: Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at Noon.
