Fulton Chamber of Commerce
Minutes from February 20, 2007
Attendance: Bill Wilkin, Lynne Loerop, Paula Rogis, Sue Mannix, Linda Hollis, Chuck Dykstra and Heather Bennett.
Minutes:
Bennett noted a small change, the January minutes should reflect the
next board meeting date as February 20, rather than January 20. Noting
the change, a motion was made by Loerop and seconded by Mannix to
approve the minutes from January 20, 2007. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Hollis
reviewed report noting expenses and income for the month of January:
$1,230.50 revenue and $691.22 expenses, leaving a balance of
$16,486.61. A motion was made by Mannix and seconded by Rogis to
accept the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. Bennett provided a
year to date budget report, noting the chamber is 6 months into their
budget year.
Executive: The by-laws
review committee presented their recommendations for amending the
By-Laws since 1981. Noting a few small corrections, a motion was made
Rogis and seconded by Loerop to amend the by-laws. Motion carried.
Bennett would provide a finalized copy to the board at the next
meeting.
Tourism & Promotions:
Copies of the January/February advertising were provided. KLM Cargo
has agreed to sponsor the shipment of the Wooden Shoe Exhibit. Bennett
provided board with bids from some printing companies on a new
community brochure. The board tabled the decision until Bennett was
able to research the costs for a free lance graphic artist. The next
bus trip will be a Chicago Cubs Baseball Game and is scheduled for
August 4. Loerop will work to schedule a fall tour for dinner and a
theatre performance.
Government Affairs: The
Donuts & Discussion with the Fulton Fire and Fulton Police
Department was well attended and many attendees found the information
interesting. Bennett inquired if a Donuts & Discussion needs to be
held with city council candidates since all were running unopposed.
Loerop mentioned it is a good opportunity for the community to meet the
candidates and soon to be council members. A motion was made by Loerop
and seconded by Rogis to hold a Donuts & Discussion with the
candidates. Motion carried. Bennett reported on her recent trip to
Washington, DC on behalf of the US Route 30 4-lane project.
Member Relations:
A Biz After 5 will be held for Central Bank’s 100th Anniversary
Celebration on Thursday, March 22 from 5pm to 6pm. The Fulton Bridal
Walk is scheduled for Thursday, June 28 from 4pm to 8pm in downtown
Fulton. Proposed Participation Fees – Chamber Member $50, Non-Member
$150 but would include membership until October 2007. A motion was
made by Loerop and seconded by Mannix to approve participation fees.
Motion carried.
Downtown: The Fulton
Retail Development Group reported Julie Boonstra, Picture This, had
declined their offer on purchasing the building. The group is
approaching some other business owners about purchasing the building.
Old/New Business:
Nothing new to report on FACE. The Fulton Masonic Lodge would like to
organize a Children’s ID Kit Day and requested assistance from the
chamber. While the chamber can not give a financial donation, they are
willing to donate some cookies (baked by board members) and volunteer
working the day of the event. It was noted a letter of
review/evaluation of the Chamber Director will need to be provided in
mid to late April from the Chamber President.
A motion was made by Mannix and seconded by Rogis to adjourn meeting. Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 1:00pm
Next board meeting: Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Noon
