Fulton Chamber of Commerce
Minutes from April 10, 2007
Attendance:
Steve Owen, Linda Hollis, Shirl Wierenga-Huber, Lynne Loerop, Patti
Housenga, Heather Bennett, Chuck Dykstra and Bill Wilkin.
Minutes: A motion was made by Loerop and seconded by Hollis to approve the minutes from March 20, 2007. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Hollis
reviewed report noting expenses and income for the month of March:
$40.20 revenue and $1,849.31 expenses, leaving a balance of
$13,317.47. A motion was made by Loerop and seconded by Rogis to
accept the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried. Bennett provided a
year to date budget report.
Executive: Eric
Johnson, Randy Clary and Myra Norman have agreed to serve on the
nominating committee. The Chamber Annual Dinner will be held Thursday,
June 21, 2007. Bennett was asked to research some locations and meal
costs. Bennett provided Chamber Board with a copy of her monthly
meetings.
Tourism & Promotions:
Copies of the March/April advertising were provided. The City of
Fulton has created a City Tourism Committee that will substitute for
the Chamber’s Tourism Committee. The City is asking for representation
from various organizations in town affiliated with tourism. A motion
was made by Hollis and seconded by Wilkin to appoint Shirl
Wierenga-Huber to the City’s Tourism Committee. Motion carried. The
International Wooden Shoe Exhibit is still on schedule and the shoes
will be shipped later part of April/first part of May. Betty Wiebenga
has agreed to organize a wooden shoe painted print from the windmill to
downtown area. The painted prints will be painted by 80 5th graders
from River Bend and will be completed the later part of May. Angelena
Grimm, CCC student, is working on the community brochure and it is
hoped it will go to the printer by mid-April. The Cubs Baseball Game
is scheduled for August 4, against the New York Mets. The Amana
Colonies and Old Creamery Theatre trip is scheduled for May 24, 2007.
Chuck Dykstra volunteered to attend the Fulton Wa Tan Ye Club meeting
to discuss partnering with the Fulton Chamber of Commerce to host the
Lincoln Buy-Way Yard Sale Event to be held August 9 – 11, 2007.
Government Affairs: The
Donuts & Discussion with City Candidates and School Board
Candidates was cancelled due to limited candidate participation.
Member Relations:
A Biz After 5 will be held for Two Photographers Wit Style on April 19,
2007. The Fulton Bridal Walk is scheduled for Thursday, June 28 from
4pm to 8pm in downtown Fulton. The event needs 20 participating
businesses to proceed. The deadline for participation is April 30.
The Chamber Spotlights will be ending this summer.
Downtown: Dykstra
reported the Fulton Retail Development Group building will be listed
with FSBO.Com (For Sale by Owner) at a price of $199,500.
Old/New Business:
Shirl Wierenga-Huber mentioned getting more detailed info. on
businesses in the community to Sharon Hesselman, Gateway Greetings
Coordinator. It was noted the Fulton Journal has been inquiring when
the spotlights will end. When the spotlights conclude, in July/August,
another thank you needs to be sent to the Fulton Journal for their
generosity in faithfully running the spotlights each week.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Dykstra and seconded by Loerop to adjourn meeting. Meeting adjourned at 12:55pm.
