CITY OF FULTON
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 1, 2010
5:30 PM
Mayor Russell called the meeting to order and directed the deputy clerk to call the roll. On roll call, Mayor Russell, Aldermen Charles Dykstra, Gene Field, Warren Juist, Wes Letcher and Bill Loerop answered present. Aldermen Merle Sterenberg, Charlie Letcher and Ron Roels were absent. Also in attendance were Bill Shirk - City Attorney, Randy Balk - City Administrator, and Officer Casey Simpson.
The pledge of allegiance was recited and Pastor Roy Anne Mathews offered prayer.
Ald. Field moved, seconded by Ald. Wes Letcher to approve the February 16, 2010 regular council meeting minutes. Roll call vote/all yes, motion carried.
Ald. Field moved, seconded by Ald. Wes Letcher to approve the contract with U.S. Cellular to lease space on the water tower. City Attorney Shirk explained the main points of the agreement including rent, annual increase, and potential revenue share if additional business growth is realized by USC. Roll call vote/all yes, motion carried.
Ald. Field moved, seconded by Ald. Dykstra to reschedule the budget workshop to Saturday, March 20th at 8:00 AM. Voice vote/all yes/motion carried.
Discussion was held on a new design for the public restrooms at 10th Avenue Park. No action taken at this time. Further discussion will take place at the Budget Workshop.
Mayor Russell discussed various topics with the council, including the potential opening of the Federal Prison.
Attorney Bill Shirk gave the city council an update on the lien filing and the potential lawsuit in regards to the Chewton Glen property. Stablewood (successor to the Rolls Royce Power Venture business) will have until March 25, 2010 to respond. We are hopeful that we will hear a positive response from Stablewood before that date.
Ald. Field moved, seconded by Ald. Juist to adjourn meeting. Voice vote/all yes/motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:15 pm.
