Fulton is a rural wholesome community in northwestern Illinois, located in Whiteside County, which sits on the banks of the Mississippi River. The City of Fulton has a population of 3,481 people according to thhe 2010 Census and covers an area of 2.3 square miles. Fulton is known for its pride in its Dutch heritage. Currently  the city has five main attractions for visitors to discover, these being: a local historical museum, a nature center, 12-acre pioneer village, functional windmill, and cultural center. Recreational opportunities exist for all seasons including a marina and two facilities offer lodging. This community is situated on Lincoln Highway, the Ronald Reagan Trail, the Great River Road, and Great River Trail. On the outskirts of the town, Lock & Dam 13, Sand Prairie, Sunfish Slough, Cattail Slough, and Mickelson's Landing are situated. Fulton has a public school district which is consolidated between two neighboring towns and a private school system. There is a wonderful variety in the types of business that reside in Fulton proper and unincorporated Fulton. Numerous eateries offer a plethora of food items to choose from. Many of the retail and service business are located in our historic downtown for close and easy shopping. The large service, industrial, agricultural, and manufacturing companies are situated on the outskirts near rail, river, and highway access.
