The Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge extends over 260 miles from Wabasha, Minnesota to Rock Island, Illinois. The Refuge offers great opportunities for birding among marshes, bottomland forest, open water, sand prairies and wooded bluffs.
"Fulton is home to many distinctive birds and water fowl including Bald Eagles, Pelicans, Bluebirds, Herons and much more.
Best areas to view these birds are:
- Lock & Dam 13
- Mickelson's Landing (just north of dam 13)
- Fulton dike and Cattail Slough.
