Fire & Police Departments Receive Endowments

Gift from Chambells Supports Fulton Firemen and Policemen

The City of Fulton Police Department and the Fulton Fire Protection District are the beneficiaries of a new endowment just announced to them.  Lynn and Gary Chambell, Fulton residents, wanted to establish a fund to support both the local police and firemen year after year.  They worked with FACE (Fulton's local community foundation) to get it set up.  The donation the Chambells made has been invested through FACE with the goal of providing not only an annual grant to the firemen and policemen but grants that will also keep up with inflation over time.

Each of the organizations will receive one-half of the total funds available for distribution each year.  Starting in 2010, the groups are expected to receive at least several hundred dollars apiece.  Each organization may use the funds as needed to support their mission.

Others in the community may also add to this charitable fund at any time. Additional contributions are tax-deductible and will also be invested for the purpose of providing a larger distribution to each group annually. Contributions to this fund might be a good gift for a fireman or policeman; be a good place to direct memorials for firemen, policemen, or all Fulton residents who benefit from the protection provided by these two organizations.  It is also possible to direct some of the assets in one's estate to go into this fund upon one's death.  Donations or memorials may be made out to the Fulton Firemen and Policemen Fund and sent in care of FACE, P.O. Box 292, Fulton, IL 61252.

Please direct questions about this fund to FACE's executive director, Connie Koehn (815 589-2646) or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ; another FACE board member (Evan Davis, Troy Hartman, Kathy Huizenga, Heidi Kolk, Betty Wiebenga); or by calling FACE's parent foundation, the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend at 563 326-2840.
