CITY OF FULTON YARD WASTE CUSTOMERS

Pickup of leaves and yard waste will be two times per week during the month of November. All debris must be put out at your usual place of garbage pickup by 6:00 a.m. Yard waste must be put in paper lawn bags or garbage cans clearly marked with an "X".  No plastic bags!!!!

Yard waste pickup will be on Tuesdays and Fridays during the month of November except for the Friday after Thanksgiving. This pickup will be on Saturday, November 28^th. (Pickup dates include: November 3^rd, 6^th, 10^th, 13^th, 17^th, 20^th, 24^th, and 28^th).

Deadline Approaches for 2010 Flikkema Grant Inquiries

The trustees of the D.S. Flikkema Foundation, as part of their process of determining grants, review information received from groups interested in being considered for such grants.  The deadline for submitting information for 2010 grant consideration is the end of this month (September 30^th). 

Fulton's charitable organizations are reminded to submit a single page letter of inquiry describing the programs, projects or specific needs you would like the trustees to consider.  The letter needs to be postmarked by no later than September 30, 2009, and sent to the D.S. Flikkema Foundation, c/o FACE, P.O. Box 292, Fulton IL  61252.  The letter should inform the trustees of any programs, projects or specific needs of the organization.

The FACE board will pass all requests postmarked by September 30th on to the trustees each October.  The majority of D.S. Flikkema Foundation grants will be issued around March/April.

Book Donations Needed

Schmaling Memorial Library, Fulton's public library, needs used books for the October 24, 2009, book sale. The library is accepting all books except Readers Digest, encyclopedias, text books, magazines, and severely used books. Books may be dropped off at the circulation desk at Schmaling Memorial Library in Fulton, Illinois.

The library's used book sale will be held at the old fire station, now referred to as Robert Fulton Commons. The event will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2009, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.  If you have questions, please contact the library staff at 815-589-2045.

Schmaling Library Hosts Reading Program

You're invited to Teddy Bear Tuesdays at the Schmaling Memorial Public Library, 501 10th Avenue, Fulton, Illinois.  The event will be held on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Children's Department beginning September 15.  Children in preschool through 2nd grade are invited to wear their pajamas and bring their favorite stuffed animal to share stories and a snack.  Mrs. Senior will be hosting these special times.  Parents must accompany their children.  Please call the library to register.  815-589-2045.
