2021 Dutch Days Festival Is Cancelled

The Fulton Dutch Days Festival Committee, following careful consideration, has made the decision to cancel the 2021 Festival. There is a consensus among healthcare providers and scientists that a social event the size of the Festival may not be safe until September or later. We realize how many people enjoy participating and attending so it was not an easy or hasty decision.

The theme chosen for the cancelled Festival will be carried forward. It will recall and pay tribute to “Operation Chowhound,” a military, humanitarian mission that saved thousands of Dutch citizens from starvation in the final days of World War II. Two books are recommended reading: OPERATION CHOWHOUND by Stephen Dando-Collins (non-fiction) and OF WINDMILLS & WAR by Diane Moody (a fictional account of the operation).  Both books are recommended reading and available at the Schmaling Public Library. All of the activities involved in the past Festivals will be continued in the 2022 Festival. Any questions, please contact Chairman Barbara Mask at 563 321-0318 or Tourism Coordinator Aaron Fullan at 815-589-3925.
