Mayor Wendy Ottens called the continuation meeting to order, May 27, 2021, and directed the Deputy Clerk to call the roll. Aldermen King, Mask, VanKampen, Nederhoff, Hunt and VanZuiden were present. Alderman Banker was absent.
Approve the Chief of Police Contract with newly appointed Chief Nick Neblung. Alderman VanKampen motioned, seconded by Alderman King. No Discussion. Roll call vote, 6 yes, 0 no. Motion carried.
Approve an Ordinance amending the number of licenses issued under Chapter 111, entitled Alcoholic Beverages. Motioned by Alderman Mask, seconded by Alderman VanKampen. Short discussion to follow on the issuance of a Class A License which allows for liquor sales on and off premise and would allow for video gaming. Alderman Hunt states that he visited with the new bar and restaurant owners of Paddlewheel and informed the council that they would be running the business by the rules. Alderman Mask makes mention that the council is very cautious of video gaming and wants to keep it regulated by limiting the number of liquor licenses. With no further discussion, roll call vote. 6 yes, 0 no. Motion carried.
Approve appointing a special committee under Section 30.25, titled “Emergency Operations Plan.” Keith King will be Coordinator, along with Mayor Wendy Ottens, Chief Neblung and City Administrator/Public Works Director, Dan Clark. No discussion. Roll call vote, 6 yes, 0 no. Motion carried.
