Certified Police Officer

The City of Fulton Police Department is currently accepting applications.

Applications are available at City Hall or you can download one via this link.


  • Must already be a certified Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Illinois or certified by a qualifying out of state basic academy
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and reside within a thirty (30) mile radius after within 1 year of appointment
  • Must have a valid driver's license or be able to obtain an Illinois driver’s license and an acceptable driving  record as determined by the City
  • Must be eligible to carry a firearm under all state and federal laws
  • Must pass an extensive background check
  • May be required to pass a written test, oral interview, medical examination, polygraph and a psychological assessment


  • Current certified officers begin at $51,957.00 per year
  • Paid vacation, holidays and sick leave
  • Life, health, dental and optical insurance plans offered
  • Employees participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund
